Metallica - Hardwired single

Metal megastars return with adrenaline-packed new single

Seemingly out of nowhere, and after years of anticipation from the rock and metal community, stadium fillers Metallica have returned with a new track alongside news of a new album.

A snarling bruiser of a track, the fast pace of ‘Hardwired’ suggests a return to the thrashier early days of Metallica for their upcoming eleventh studio album, Hardwired...To Self Destruct. The guitars are grisly and immensely powerful, and culminate in a soaring, speedy solo from Kirk Hammett. Meanwhile, James Hetfield attacks the track with urgent vocals, that although far from returning to the gritty yells of Metallica’s first few albums, are abrasive and fuelled by anger. Utterly head-banging inducing, it is a track that begs to be heard live.

With a thrashy atmosphere and a crushing power, ‘Hardwired’ suggests good things for the impending Hardwired...To Self Destruct, which the band say will be made up of “two discs, nearly 80 minutes of music is coming your way on November 18, 2016.”
